The self-build concept is enormously popular in Norway - Anbudshus wanted to offer this target market a new and ambitious ‘one-stop’ online architectural design and building consultancy service, with the added capacity to purchase house plans.
The subscription package needed to include architectural drawings, a tender report, an energy efficiency report and an accessibility statement. They also wanted users to be able to view and download all the documents as soon as they had purchased the package.
The initial release was to include a website, a shopping cart and ecommerce application with an integrated payment gateway (partnered with Netaxept), and a web-based backend support and content management system (CMS).
This meant taking an extremely complex process and making it fast, simple and intuitive – without limiting the numerous customer options. To do this, Anbudshus needed complete control of every aspect of the backend of their website, from package and cart management to buttons and tabs.
Ardent came up with something very special. The website allows consumers to view a range of products at a glance and very simply progress through to purchase completion.

The application Ardent built for Anbudshus broke new ground because it takes a very complex process and makes it very easy. It gives the user the opportunity to purchase a set number of design changes and customisation options at a fixed price; a framework of how to obtain planning permission; and if required, a number of appendixes and add-ons to help them with their project or to customise their build.
The ecommerce application is supported by a web-based back office. In addition, there is also a job queue feature that allows external or consultant architects to log in and work through the changes requested by customers. A website like this one needs to carry an unusually large number of high-resolution images and high-quality video content, so we ensured that all content loads within the standard seven seconds.
Anbudshus are extremely happy with our custom-built application. They’re currently getting an average of 200 enquiries per day, within a very specialist niche market, with a high percentage resulting in successful transactions. Our software has improved their efficiency and delivery timescales by 20% as well as providing an efficient, single point-of-data capture that eliminates any gaps in client change requests.
